| Souji Rippukan is a 16-year-old cool-headed student at Kirisaki Private High School who is member of the Rippukan House, a family of swordsmen who have been practicing the assassination kenjutsu Musoken ("Peerless Sword") since the Sengoku period. Despite his high skill at such a young age, Souji is unsure of what he wants to do with his life. Even though he respects his father, Genryu, and Genryu's hope that he carries on the family swordsmanship, Souji has resented Genryu for training him so intensely that Genryu neglected his wife, who eventually left them.
As an act of defiance against Genryu, Souji defeated the Zakutor in a bamboo thicket to become Kyoryu Green and soon developed a more feral fighting style, adopting a backhand grip which later became his personal kenjutsu Zangeki Musoken ("Slashing Peerless Sword"). Though distant at first, Souji eventually joins the team when Daigo resolves things between him and Genryu. As Kyoryu Green, Souji announces himself as the "Slashing Brave" and he wields the Zakutor Slasher clawed gauntlet. Souji lives to the age of 116 in the year 2114, mentoring his great-grandson Soujirou. |
